Sacombank Securities Company and Singapore's DMG&Partners Securities signed a memorandum of understanding to form a strategic partnership on Feb. 11.


They will co-operate in areas like technology, market research, and activities that will help attract foreign investment into the Vietnamese securities market.
"We'll enhance information exchange, especially focusing on doing deep research into the Vietnamese market and organising seminars to showcase the Vietnamese market and firms abroad," Sacombank-SBS Chairman Nguyen Ho Nam said.
The research results will also be distributed to foreign investors within two months through DMG's offices in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore, according to the CEO of DMG&Partners, Nicholas Ng.
In the next several months, the two partners will organise overseas road shows for 10 leading listed Vietnamese companies to help them raise capital.
The new development is a step towards achieving Sacombank-SBS' target to become an investment gateway to Viet Nam, Nam said.
In 2009, the HCM City Stock Exchange-listed company became the first Vietnamese securities firm to open a representative office in Singapore.
The HCM City-headquartered company also has a presence in Cambodia and Laos via Sacombank Securities (Cambodia) PLC and Lanexang Securities PLC.
It was named the "Best investment bank in Viet Nam" by Hong Kong's financial magazine The Asset in 2009 and 2010.
In January 2011, it was voted among the top three securities companies in the country in terms of brokerage and equity research by Thomson Reuters.
DMG is a joint-venture between OSK Investment Bank Berhad – a subsidiary of OSK Holdings Berhad, a listed Malaysian financial services group – and Deutsche Asia Pacific Holdings Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the Deutsche Bank Group.
It is also a member of the Stock Exchange of Singapore.
In 2010, it was ranked first in the Small Caps Research Category and Most Improved Brokerage Category in the Asiamoney Brokers Poll.
