Chart Art: Retracement Plays on USD/JPY and EUR/NZD

Whether you like trading the majors, comdolls, or crosses, I got yo’ back with these hot forex setups on USD/JPY and EUR/NZD!

USD/JPY: 1-hour

Trend traders huddle up! USD/JPY is now back at the 112.00 psychological handle after flirting with 113.00 earlier this week.

What makes the current price more interesting is that it’s right smack at not only a mid-channel support but also the 100 SMA on the 1-hour time frame. Oh, and check out stochastic chillin’ like a villain in the oversold territory!

Think the scrilla is in for more gains against the yen? Buying at current levels could still get you a decent enough reward-to-risk ratio if you aim for the pair’s previous highs.

If you’re one of them conservative traders, though, then you could wait for a deeper retracement nearer to the 200 SMA and rising channel support before you place your buy orders. Whatever your trading plan is, just make sure you use proper risk management, aight?

EUR/NZD: 4-hour

Dollar-trading not your thing? Here’s one for you! EUR/NZD is having trouble making new highs around the 1.5700 psychological handle, which isn’t surprising because it also lines up with a previous support level.


Not only that, but it’s also near a 50% Fibonacci retracement, AND the 200 SMA on the 4-hour chart. Add the bearish divergence on the chart and we’ve got ourselves a party!

The pair has already dropped by around 100 pips since turning away from the 50% Fib, but y’all still got some chance at huge pips if the bearish momentum drags the pair all the way to its June lows near 1.5300.

If you’re one of them euro bulls, though, and you’re not convinced that the euro will eat Kiwi’s dust, then you could also wait for a break above said resistance areas. In that case, the 1.5900 or even the 1.6200 handles are good bets for potential profit targets.

Chart Art: Trend and Breakout Trades with AUD/JPY and CHF/JPY

Who’s in the mood to trade the yen today? I hope you are, because these short-term forex setups on AUD/JPY and CHF/JPY are too good to miss!

AUD/JPY: 1-hour

Retracement alert! After popping up to the 87.00 area earlier this week, AUD/JPY has gone back down to test the 86.00 levels.


What makes the pullback interesting is that the pair is now consolidating at a broken channel resistance, which also happens to line up with the 100 SMA on the 1-hour time frame.
Before you unleash your buy orders for the Aussie, though, you should also note that AUD/JPY is having trouble actually breaking above the 100 SMA while it’s consolidating.

What’s more, stochastic is also about to hit the overbought territory!

A long trade at the earliest sign of bullish momentum is a good idea if you think that the uptrend will be your friend. But if you’re not one of them Aussie fans, then you could also trade a downside break and look for targets somewhere in the broken channel levels.

CHF/JPY: 1-hour

I spy with my cool, blue eyes a potential breakout in the making! CHF/JPY just found support at a rising trend line, which is also right smack at the 100 SMA on the 1-hour time frame.

117.70 is the area to watch, as it has been serving as resistance since last week. In this case, it looks like a resistance in an ascending triangle.

A break above said resistance level could bring the pair back up to the 118.80 area of interest. But if the bears manage to defend the resistance level for another day, then look for a possible trip back to the rising trend line.

Finally, remember that triangles like these don’t always result in upside breaks. In any case, make sure y’all have your breakout strategies ready in case CHF/JPY finally pops out of its triangle!
