Yesterday's trading boost as a result of the 'Obama effect' appeared to be wearing off this morning, with both major bourses seeing a fall in transactions as traders reverted to caution.

Shares continued to add value in HCM City but lost ground in Ha Noi.

The VN-Index on the HCM City Stock Exchange gained 0.67 per cent to reach 383.44 points.
Transaction value on the bourse dropped slightly to VND206.6 billion (US$9.8 million), as 13.5 million shares changed hands.

Of the 30 leading shares tracked by the VN30, advancers outnumbered decliners by 10 to 8. Companies in the green included major stocks such as insurer Bao Viet (BVH), Military Bank (MBB), Vietcombank (VCB) and food processor Masan (MSN).

Meanwhile, others closed this morning's session unchanged as the index added 0.4 per cent to close on 452.64 points.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index shed 1.11 per cent, falling to 51.01 points.
Losers outstripped gainers by 113-30.

Market value halved compared to yesterday morning, reaching VND69.7 billion ($3.3 million) on a volume of 10.9 million shares.

Blue chips in Ha Noi also had a morning to forget, sending the HNX30 down 1.54 per cent to 91.71 points.
