Steady buying helped brighten Viet Nam's stock indexes in this Thursday. In HCM (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HCM&q=HCM&language=en) City, the VN-Index rose 1.23 per cent to 430.72 points. 198 stocks advanced; 42 declined and 34 closed unchanged.


Among the 50 stocks to match their ceiling prices were mid caps such as D2D (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=D2D&q=D2D&language=en), up to VND33,700; SFI (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=SFI&q=SFI&language=en), up to VND15,700; TIX (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=TIX&q=TIX&language=en), up to VND45,900 and CLG (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=CLG&q=CLG&language=en), up to VND30,000.
The number matching the floor prices dropped to just six.
The largest capitalised stocks gained only slightly but their prices remained stable.
These included Phu My Fertiliser (DPM (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=DPM&q=DPM&language=en)), up VND1,300; the software maker FPT (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=FPT&q=FPT&language=en) Corp (FPT (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=FPT&q=FPT&language=en)) and Sai Gon Securities Inc(SSI (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=SSI&q=SSI&language=en)), each up VND500; and Ocean Group (OGC (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=OGC&q=OGC&language=en)), up VND200.
Some blue chips were unchanged.
These included insurer Bao Viet Holding (BVH (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=BVH&q=BVH&language=en)), Eximbank (EIB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=EIB&q=EIB&language=en)), Masan Group (MSN (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=MSN&q=MSN&language=en)) and property trader Quoc Cuong Gia Lai (QCG (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=QCG&q=QCG&language=en)).
VietinBank (CTG (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=CTG&q=CTG&language=en)) down VND100 and Sacombank (STB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=STB&q=STB&language=en)) down VND200, were the only blue chips to fall.
Trading volume was steady at 32.4 million shares for a value of VND683.8 billion (US$32.6 million).
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index rose for a second day - by 2.93 per cent - to return to above 100, at 100.59 points.
Volume was again low at 28.3 million shares worth of VND482.5 billion ($22.9 million).
Securities stocks [KLS (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=KLS&q=KLS&language=en), APS (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=APS&q=APS&language=en), BVS (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=BVS&q=BVS&language=en), ...] gained 1.5 per cent and banking stocks [SHB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=SHB&q=SHB&language=en), ACB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=ACB&q=ACB&language=en)] 0.1 per cent.
PetroVietnam stocks [PVS (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=PVS&q=PVS&language=en), PVX (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=PVX&q=PVX&language=en), PVI (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=PVI&q=PVI&language=en), ...] and Vinaconex stocks [VCG (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=VCG&q=VCG&language=en), VC1 (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=VC1&q=VC1&language=en), VC9 (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=VC9&q=VC9&language=en)] also rallied.
