Shares continued to increase in value during this morning's session on both national stock exchanges.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index reached 417.77 points, a 0.4 per cent increase from yesterday's close.

The VN30, tracking the city's top shares, also added 0.6 per cent to 497.13 points.
Market value rose 26.8 per cent over yesterday morning's level to VND261.2 (US$12.4 million), as trading volume increased over 11 per cent to 15.1 million shares.

Bucking the upward trend, six stocks tracked by the VN30 tumbled, including Kinh Do Confectionery Co (KDC), food processors Masan Group (MSN) and Bourbon Tay Ninh (SBT), Tu Liem Urban Development Co (NTL), Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ) and property developer Vincom (VIC).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index inched up 0.04 per cent to 69.01 points.
Trading, however, decreased compared to yesterday morning's level with around 13 million shares worth VND114.45 billion ($5.4 million) changing hands.

The HNX30, tracking the 30 leading shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, edged up 0.3 per cent to 130.47 points.

The market will resume at 1 pm.

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index picked up the second day on August 3 though liquidity was still poor and had not shown signs of recovery.

Shares of 303 companies and six mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange edged up 0.51 percent, or 2.11 points, to close at 418.21 points.

Among the index members, there were 101 winners, 121 losers, while 87 stocks remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse improved by 10.4 percent in volume, and by 16.2 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 24.17 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND384.43 billion.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) won the spot of most active share in volume with 1.55 million shares changing hands.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) remained at second place with 1.21 million shares.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) came next with 1.11 million shares traded.

Binh Minh Plastic Joint Stock Company (HHS) climbed for five straight trading sessions, accelerating 4.92 percent to close at VND46,900.

Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (VNM) enriched 4.84 percent to close at VND97,500.

Tan Binh Import Export Joint Stock Corporation (TIX) rose 4.76 percent to close at VND19,800.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) fell 4.76 percent to close at VND4,000.

Ben Thanh Trading & Service Joint Stock Company (BTT) curbed its three-day winning streak, losing 4.66 percent to close at VND22,500.

Do Thanh Technology Corporation (DTT) dived 4.65 percent to close at VND8,200.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – mounted 3.26 points, or 0.66 percent, to end at 497.38. Among its 30 members, 13 stocks rallied, 9 weakened, and 8 remained unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north dipped 0.1 percent, or 0.07 points, to close at 68.91 points with 90 winners, 99 losers, and 77 stocks treading water. Around 27.36 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND391.22 billion.

HNX 30 Index - the price index of top 30 stocks calculated based on free float adjusted market capitalization – rallied 0.12 percent, or 0.16 points, to finish at 130.23 points.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares resurrected 0.24 percent, or 0.09 points, to close at 37.17 points. A total of 382,320 shares changed hands at VND3.33 billion.
