Blue chips on the HCM (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HCM&q=HCM&language=en) Stock Exchange today tumbled, which made the VN-Index drop 0.9 per cent to close the session at 401.95 points.
Of the 10 leading shares in terms of capitalisation, insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=BVH&q=BVH&language=en)) bottomed out, while five others plunged between 1.7-4.1 per cent.
Eximbank (EIB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=EIB&q=EIB&language=en)) closed the day unchanged. Three others of the biggest codes advanced, including property Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HAG&q=HAG&language=en)) up 0.6 per cent, food producer Masan Group (MSN (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=MSN&q=MSN&language=en)) up 1.6 per cent and Sacombank (STB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=STB&q=STB&language=en)) up 2.2 per cent. However, the gains were not enough to lift the VN-Index.
Market value of the southern bourse, however, jumped 18 per cent over yesterday's level to VND436.4 billion (US$21.2 million) on a volume of 22.3 million shares.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HNX&q=HNX&language=en)-Index slumped by 1.4 per cent to conclude today's session at 68.60 points.
Trades were sluggish, with just VND203.4 billion ($9.9 million) worth of 21 million shares. That value only reached 86.3 per cent of yesterday's figure.
Kim Long Securities Company (KLS (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=KLS&q=KLS&language=en)) was most heavily traded, 2.55 million of its shares exchanged. However, it ended down nearly 2 per cent. PetroVietnam Construction Comapny (PVX (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=PVX&q=PVX&language=en)) followed with 1.6 million shares.
