Shares on both national exchanges slumped this morning, after rallying in 20 July. On the HCM (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HCM&q=HCM&language=en) Stock Exchange, the VN-Index ended 0.9 per cent down to 413.06 points.


Losers outnumbered gainers by 141-74.
Market value dropped 13.7 per cent from yesterday to VND345.8 billion (US$16.8 million) on a modest volume of 18.3 million shares.
Of the 10 leading shares by capitalisation, Eximbank (EIB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=EIB&q=EIB&language=en)) managed a gain of 2.6 per cent, while Sacombank (STB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=STB&q=STB&language=en)) closed unchanged, with the others losing between 0.6-2.1 per cent.
Software giant FPT (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=FPT&q=FPT&language=en) (FPT) tumbled just under 2 per cent, although it had announced an increase of 11 per cent in first-half gross profit compared to the same period last year.
Real estate service provider Hoang Quan Corporation (HQC (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HQC&q=HQC&language=en)), along with STB (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=STB&q=STB&language=en), were the most-active codes, with about 1.2 million shares changing hands.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=HNX&q=HNX&language=en)-Index fell 0.5 to close at 71.35 points.
The value of trades only reached 78 per cent of yesterday's value, totalling VND195.7 billion ($9.5 million). The volume of trades dived 21.5 per cent to 17.5 million shares.
With 2.95 million shares exchanged, Kim Long Securities Company (KLS (http://finance.vietstock.vn/StockDetail.aspx?scode=KLS&q=KLS&language=en)) claimed the highest trading volume nationwide.
