Stock indices fell on both of Viet Nam's stock exchanges today despite the settling of Finance-Ministry-Circular-13's fate and third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 7.16 per cent.

The GDP figures from the General Statistics Office show a year-on-year increase in GDP of 4.62 per cent against the third quarter of last year and 6.52 per cent for the first nine months.
In addition, the Dow Jones continued to rise and was up 0.43 per cent to surpass 10,858 overnight.
In HCM City, the VN-Index closed down 0.48 per cent to 452.94.
In all, almost 33.2 million shares worth VND897.1 billion ($46 million) were exchanged - a fall of 15 per cent by volume and 10 per cent by value.
Declines outnumbered advances 173-42.
Ocean Group reclaimed the position of the most active stock on the southern bourse but with just one million shares changing hands. OGC closed unchanged at VND32,200 ($1.65.).
Of the 10 largest capitalised shares, three - Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Eximbank (EIB) and Vincom (VIC)- posted gains in value and four - FPT Corp (FPT), Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), Masan Group (MSN) and Sacombank (STB) declined.
Vietinbank (CTG), Phu My Fertiliser (DPM), Hoa Phat Group (HPG) remained unchanged.
In Ha Noi, the HNX-Index fell a substantial 2.12 per cent to close at 127.41
Market value declined by 14 per cent to VND842.7 billion (US$43.2 million) on a volume of 33.54 million shares.
Losers largely outnumbered gainers 264-38.
PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) resumed its role as the most active share nation wide with 2.57 million shares changing hands. PVX lost 2.9 per cent of its value to VND23,300 ($1.94).
Blue-chips tumbled with all of 10 leading shares by capitalisation posting losses in value.
Gold
The domestic gold prices hit another new record at more than VND31 million ($1,590) per tael this morning. (A tael equals 1.2 troy ounces).
At 10:28am, the Saigon Jewlery Company quoted buying-selling prices at VND31.17-31.23 million ($1,598-1,602) - up more than VND600,000 compared with yesterday.
Gold has also been traded at more than VND31 million at other jewelry companies.
