On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index advanced 1 per cent to reach 417.88 points after gainers outnumbered losers by 182-50.

The VN30, tracking the bourse's top shares, also rose 0.87 per cent to 489.58 points.
The rally of the VN30 was modest, with four stocks declining and seven others closing unchanged from the previous session.

Meanwhile, insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH) and property developer Tan Tao (ITA) hit their ceiling prices this morning.

Real estate stocks were also actively traded this morning.

The value of trades fetched VND565.5 billion (US$26.9 million) as 49.87 million shares changed hands.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 2.15 per cent to stand at 58.32 points.

Advancers largely overwhelmed decliners by 192-35.

Liquidity improved with nearly 62 million shares traded on a turnover of VND444.5 billion ($21.16 million).

The HNX30, representing Ha Noi's 30 leading shares, enjoyed a 3 per cent rise to 110.96 points.
