Shares gained in value in HCM City but lost ground in Ha Noi this morning.
Closing the morning session, the VN-Index advanced 0.18 per cent to 399.32 points.
The value of trades on the HCM City Stock Exchange totalled VND873.3 billion (US$41.5 million), jumping 49 per cent from yesterday morning's level. Trading volume also increased to nearly 65.3 million shares.

The VN30, composed of the southern bourse's 30 leading shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, edged up 0.23 per cent to 468.20 points although losers overwhelmed gainers by 17-10.

Among the 10 rising stocks, insurer Bao Viet (BVH), Vietinbank (CTG) and property developer Tan Tao (ITA) reached their ceiling prices.

Meanwhile, on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index failed to follow yesterday's rally, tumbling 0.76 per cent to 54.51 points as losers outnumbered gainers by 120-40.
Market value and volume fetched VND287.9 billion ($13.7 million) and 49.4 million shares respectively.

The HNX30, tracking the performance of Ha Noi's top shares, also retreated 1 per cent to reach 102.36 points.
