The shares of 254 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange reversed previous losses on September 9 as investors increased disbursement.
Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index gained 5.24 points, or 1.14 percent, to close at 463.68 points.
Trading volume dropped to around 47.5 million shares, worth VND1.21 trillion, the lowest level since the beginning of this week.
Among the index members, 184 stocks advanced, 28 declined, while 47 treaded water.
The newly listed company, Viet Nam Ocean Shipping Joint Stock Company (VOS), won the position of the most active share by volume with 2.79 million shares traded.
It was followed by Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI), the country’s largest brokerage, with 1.65 million shares changing hands.
Transport Engineering Construction & Business Investment Stock Company 584 (NTB) came next with 1.35 million shares.
Most blue-chips advanced. The list of winners on the city bourse was led by Binh Thanh Import Export Production and Trade Joint Stock Company (GIL).
Other winners included Ho Chi Minh City Metal Corporation (HMC), Nari Hamico Minerals Joint Stock Company (KSS), Viet Nhat Seafood Corporation (VNH), Post and Telecommunications Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (PTC), and Lam Dong Mineral and Building Material Joint Stock Company (LBM). They all jumped the daily maximum allowed limit of 5 percent.
South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG), which slashed 4.99 percent to trade at VND34,300, was the biggest losers on southern market.
Ben Tre Forestry and Aquaproduct Import Export Joint Stock Company (FBT) dropped for two consecutive days, losing 4.67 percent to VND10,200.
Office equipments trader Sieu Thanh Joint Stock Corporation (ST8) fell 4.62 percent to VND24,800. The company’s shares have retreated for three straight days.
The smaller bourse in the north also performed well as the Hanoi’s HNX-Index edged up 3.65 points, or 2.77 percent, to close at 136.24. Around 46.9 million shares changed hands at a value of VND1.19 trillion, the lowest level in the past two days.
Meanwhile, the market of unlisted shares made a contrast move. The UPCoM-Index dipped 0.06 points to 47.65 as of 11:15 am local time. A total of 0.4 million shares were traded at VND6.2 billion.
