Shares reversed yesterday's gains to tumble on both of the national stock exchanges during this morning's trading.

The VN-Index lost 0.76 per cent to 442.40 points. The VN30 also retreated 0.44 per cent, reaching 503.54 points.

On the HCM Stock Exchange, losers outnumbered gainers by 165-56.
Market value declined 21.1 per cent over yesterday morning's level to VND388.87 billion (US$18.5 million). The volume of trades also dropped nearly 20 per cent to just 30.7 million shares.

Only four of the 30 stocks tracked by the VN30 posted gains, including software developer FPT (FPT), PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp (REE), PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD) and construction firms HCM City Infrastructure Investment (CII) and Becamex (IJC).

Telecommunication equipment provider Sacom (SAM) emerged as the most heavily traded code in HCM City with nearly 2.4 million shares changing hands.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell nearly 1 per cent to 73.76 points. Losers largely overwhelmed gainers by 186-43.

Trading value totalled around VND412.3 billion ($19.6 million) on a volume of 52.9 million shares, slightly decreasing in value but increasing 18 per cent in volume compared to yesterday morning's trading.

Habubank (HBB) was the most active code nationwide with some 11.5 million shares exchanged.
