FPT posts high profit in first nine months
The Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) had aevenue of VND16.73 trillion (US$857.9 million) in the first nine months of this year, an increase of 30 per cent over the same period last year.
Profit rose by VND1.54 trillion ($78.9 million) or 22 per cent against 2009. Earnings after a dividend tax of the parent company were over VND959 billion ($49.2 million). Earnings per share reached an average increase of VND5,011 (26 US cent) per share, up 22 per cent over the same period last year, growing at 75 per cent of the yearly plan.
After nine months, the core businesses of the corporation including telecoms, software and informatics service, showed high growth. FPT-IS revenue was more than VND2.12 trillion ($108 million), or a16 per cent year-on-year increase, while pre-tax profit reached nearly VND326 billion ($16.7 million), up by 21 per cent over the same period last year.
The corporation's software industry earned a revenue of nearly VND710 billion ($36.4 million) or a 34 per cent year-on-year increase, posting a profit of VND173 billion ($8.87 million).
FPT Software has continued to sign many contracts with partners from the US and the EU, such as a direct marketing project with Japan worth $1.6 million.
FPT Telecoms posted a revenue of more than VND1.78 trillion ($91.3 million), up by 28 per cent over the previous year's nine month frame with a profit of VND443 billion.
FPT Trading Joint Stock Company's revenue was VND11.79 trillion ($605 million) or a 33 per cent year-on-year increase with pre-tax profit of VND345 billion ($17.7 million).
The training sector also brought FPT a revenue of nearly VND193 billion ($9.89 million), up by 36 per cent over last year's first nine months.
FPT University opened finance and banking programmes with an enrolment target of 500 students.
Phan Duc Trung general director of FPT said despite the deprecation of the Vietnamese dong against the US dollar resulting in price increases, FPT was prepared to deal with the situation to keep losses to about VND15 billion, of which the distribution sector accounted for VND10 billion.
Trung said FPT would continue to open its business performance in informatics and telecoms and focus on developing high-tech products and technology.
