Both stock indices surged this morning with over 68 per cent of codes posted gains on the two national stock exchanges. In HCM City, the VN-Index rose 3.4 per cent to close at 435.69 points.


Value of today's trades climbed almost 50 per cent to reach VND580.86 billion (US$28.1 million) as almost 34 million shares changed hands.
Gainers largely outnumbered losers by 208-35. As many as 116 gainers increased by almost 5 per cent - the most they can rise in a single session - of which a great number were blue chips.
Nine out of the 10 leading shares by capitalisation also hit the ceiling price, including Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), Vietinbank (CTG), Phu My Fertiliser (DPM), FPT Corporation (FPT), Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG), Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Masan Group (MSN), PetroVietnam Finance (PVF), Vincom Company (VIC).
Saigon Securities Inc (SSI) became the most active stock on the southern bourse with 1.8 million shares changing hands. SSI also hit the ceiling at VND17,200 ($0.83) a share.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also soared 3.24 per cent to close today at 71.73 points.
Trading value remained sluggish, however, reaching just VND285.4 billion ($13.8 million) on a volume of 28 million shares exchanged.
Advancers largely outnumbered gainers by 244-66, of which almost 60 per cent of advancers hit the ceiling price.
Coffee exporter Thai Hoa Viet Nam Group (THV) was the most heavily-traded share nation-wide with over 2.6 million shares exchanged, closing on an increase of 2.2 per cent, or VND9,400 ($0.46).
