The Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange on Wednesday regained all of yesterday’s losses as investors were back into buying mode.


VN-Index rebounded after three days of falling, rising 9.09, or 2.91 percent, to close at 321.86.


Trading volume was improved strongly, with around 50 million shares worth VND1.3 trillion changing hands. Of the index 181 members, 137 stocks rallied and 33 retreated.


Foreign investors continued to sell off to book profits, offloading VND14.6 billion ($820,000) worth of shares.


“It’s time for investors, who couldn’t jump in the market when it begun to rebound last month, to start to buy,” said an analyst of a HCMC-based brokerage.


Sacombank (STB) became the most liquid stock again as more than 8.9 million shares were traded for VND251.5 billion. The HCMC-based lender, partly owned by ANZ, rose 3.35 percent to VND21,600.


Kinh Do Joint-Stock Co. (KDC), which makes baked goods and candy in Vietnam, closed higher 3.46 percent at VND29,900. Vietnam’s main stock exchange on Monday issued a warning to Kinh Do after the company revised its financial figures, reporting a loss of VND61 billion for 2008 after earlier saying it made a profit of VND142 billion.


Vincom Joint-Stock Co. (VIC), a real estate developer, increased by the maximum trading limit of 5 percent to close at VND39,900. First-quarter net income fell 74 percent on-year to VND10 billion due to higher expenditure on new projects. Sales fell to VND61 billion from VND63 billion in the same period last year, according to a statement on its Web site late on Monday.


Hang Xanh Motors Service Joint-Stock Company (HAX) was among today’s losers, dropping 4.78 percent to VND19,900. Van Ngoc Truong Son, chief of the supervisory board, bought 740 shares to raise his holding from 0.26 percent to 0.28 percent, according to a statement on the bourse’s Web site.


Vietnam Sun Corporation (VNS), the operator of the Vinasun cab, rose 4.68 percent to VND17,900. The company announced on the exchange’s Web site that chairman Dang Phuoc Thanh boosted his holdings to 4.1 million shares by buying 600,000 shares.


His son, Dang Thanh Duy, registered to purchase 187,230 shares to raise his holdings to 2,512,770 before May 24, also according to a report on the bourse’s Web site.


The Hanoi Securities Trading Center also ended today on brighter note, with the HaSTC-Index advancing 4.58, or 4.14, to finish at 115.31.
