The domestic
stock market saw no signs of recovery on May 14, with both
market indicators of the southern and northern bourses
continuing to plunge further. The market’s liquidity was very
low as investors rushed to sell shares while buying orders
were scarce.

The VN-Index closed down 1.73% or
8.42 points, at 475.50. A total of over 1.9 million shares and
fund certificates were traded for VND 83 billion via both
order matching and negotiation methods.

PMS was the only gainer on the
southern bourse, up VND 500 a share to close at VND 28,700 a
share, while VTB was the only stock that stayed still. Of the
all remaining 152 listed stocks that were losers today, 150
suffered the maximum losses. More than 50 stocks saw their
volume today ranging from only 10 units to 100 units.

DPM continued to be the most
heavily traded stock. However, the trading volume of the stock
has been decreasing sharply, with only 163,910 shares traded
today. Other most active stocks included SSI, HPG, VHG and TRC.

Foreign investors bought a total
of 981,000 shares and fund certificates worth VND 53 billion
while sold over 308,000 units worth VND 17 billion.

In Hanoi, the HASTC-Index saw its
ninth consecutive decrease in a row, losing 3.01 points or
2.04% to finish at 144.85. Total trading volume and value hit
a record low of over 272,000 units worth more than VND 10
billion.

Of the total 136 listed stocks,
only three gained, two stayed unchanged, 33 had no trade and
98 declined with a majority of them hitting floor prices.

After a long period of decline,
prices of many listed stocks on both bourses have been reduced
sharply. In Hanoi bourse, the share price of the Sara Joint
Stock Company (SRB) has even been traded under its par value
of VND 10,000 a share. In today’s session, SRB was matched at
VND 9,100 a share, down VND 200 a share compared to the
previous session. Prices of many listed stocks have also been
declined to near their par value.
