Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index rebounded on August 2 while liquidity was severely low as both sell-side and buy-side remained highly cautious.

Shares of 303 companies and six mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange retrieved 0.86 percent, or 3.55 points, to close at 416.1 points.

Of the index, 135 stocks surged, 96 sank, while 78 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse dropped by 20.7 percent in volume, and by 22.4 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 21.89 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND330.81 billion.

Tan Tao Investment Industrial Joint Stock Company (ITA) was the most active share in volume with 1.25 million shares changing hands.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) tailed after with 1.14 million shares.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) ranked third with 936,100 shares traded.

Hoang Huy Investment Services Joint Stock Company (HHS) advanced for five straight trading sessions, gaining 4.96 percent to close at VND38,100.

Saigon Cable Corporation (CSG) fortified 4.95 percent to close at VND10,600.

Lu Gia Mechanical Electric Joint Stock Company (LGC) extended its winning streak to eight consecutive trading sessions, strengthening 4.89 percent to close at VND23,600.

Cu Chi Commercial & Industrial Developing Investment Joint Stock Company (CCI) nosedived 6.73 percent to close at VND9,700.

House Vietnam Joint Stock Company (NVN) clipped 4.92 percent to close at VND5,800.

Viettronics Tan Binh Joint Stock Company (VTB) crashed 4.88 percent to close at VND7,800.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – regained 4.36 points, or 0.89 percent, to end at 494.12. Among its 30 members, 15 stocks rallied, 4 weakened, and 1 remained unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north restored 0.41 percent, or 0.28 points, to close at 68.98 points with 126 winners, 66 losers, and 78 stocks treading water. Around 26.1 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND431.24 billion.

HNX 30 Index - the price index of top 30 stocks calculated based on free float adjusted market capitalization – revived 0.55 percent, or 0.71 points, to finish at 130.07 points.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares declined 0.24 percent, or 0.09 points, to close at 37.08 points. A total of 457,086 shares changed hands at VND3.36 billion.
